CIRCULAR TO PARENTS


Dear Parents,


Hearty Greetings!


The academic year 2013-2014 was very successful due to your whole-hearted co-operation and we the Management & Staff thank you very much for the same. Kindly go through the following guidelines carefully and strictly adhere to it.


(a) ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS (FOR KG to VIII & XI) The results will be published in our School Website gssjainvidyalaya.com. on Monday the 24th March 2014 at 9.00 a.m. and will be displayed on the School Notice Board at around 11.00 a.m.


Note:- Principal will not meet the Parents of detained / withheld students on the day of Announcement of Results.


(b) DISTRIBUTION OF TEXT & NOTEBOOKS: The Text & Note books will be available for distribution in their respective classes, against Cash paid receipts in the School Office. Parents who have opted for the textbooks and notebooks should compulsorily purchase the same on the scheduled dates, failing which the stock will get exhausted. The cost of books will be put up on the Notice Board on 4th March 2014. Distribution of the books will be as per the following schedule:


UKG to V Std. : Tuesday, the 25th March 2014 - 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. VI to XII Std. :Wednesday, the 26th March 2014 -9.00 a.m. to 2.00p.m ( Except XI ) Lunch Time - 12.30 to 1.00 p.m.


Note :- Bill for Uniform material and distribution will not be done on the above two days.


(c) SCHOOL FEE STRUCTURE- REFER Circular dated 20.02.2014


(d) UNIFORM CLOTH:


Parents are requested to purchase the cloth for School Uniform from Stores after payment of Cash in the School Office on Friday, the 4th April 2014 and on Saturday, the 5th April 2014 from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. & 2.00 pm to 4.00 p.m. The quantity required (measurement in metres) should be specified by the Parents. The rate for Terry Cotton Suiting (S.Kumar's) will be Rs.135/- per metre and for Shirting ( S.Kumar's) will be Rs.75/-per metre. The material is procured from reputed Mills, in bulk to maintain the uniformity in quality, colour, shade, design and supplied at reasonable price only for the benefit and convenient of the parents.


UNIFORM SHOES:


The students of classes LKG to VIII should compulsorily use only Black Canvas shoes with regular Brown Uniform and White Canvas shoes with White Uniform. The students of classes IX to XII are permitted to use black sports shoe with regular brown uniform.


(e) SCHOOL WORKING SCHEDULE:


After a short break on completion of Semester II Examination, classes will commence for students ( UKG to X and XII ) from Thursday, the 27th March 2014 with a prayer at 8.30 a.m. as per schedule printed in the school diary. Last working day will be Friday, the 25th April 2014. Summer vacation will be from Saturday, the 26th April to Wednesday the 11th June 2014. School re-opens for classes UKG to VIII after summer vacation on Thursday, the 12th June 2014 and for Classes IX to XII, the School will re-open on 4th JUNE 2014 (WEDNESDAY) All students have to compulsorily attend the school from 27th March to 25th April 2014 and again report without fail on the first working day after the Summer Vacation. Otherwise it will be presumed that they are discontinuing and are liable to be given the T.C.


(f) T.C. APPLICATIONS:


T.C. Applications should be made by the parents only with valid and satisfactory reasons under normal circumstances. Those applying for T.C. may do so on or before 31.3.2014. After this date the First Term fees wil have to be paid. Once T.C. is issued re-admission will not be granted.

CONTINOUS AND COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION FOR IX & X
(CCE)
with effect from 2009 -2010

*. It is a process to provide Holistic profile of the learner through regular assessment of scholastic and co- scholastic domains of development.

*. The CCE scheme brings about a paradigm shift from examination to effective pedagogy.



I. 'SCHOLASTIC and CO-SCHOLASTIC':-


*. The term 'Scholastic' refers to those aspects which are related to intellect or the brain. It includes assessment of learners in curricular subjects,assignments, project work,practical and oral work etc.

*. The Term 'Co-Scholastic' referes to those aspects which are related to hand and heart. These include Psychomotor skills , Physical development, life skills, attitude, values, interests and participation in co - curricular activities.


II. FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT:-


*. It is a process used by a teacher to continuosly monitor student progress in a non- threatening and supportive environment.

*. It provides platform for active involvement of students in their own learning.

*. Some examples in Formative assessment includes Assignments, Projects, Debate , Oral Test, Class Test / Unit Test etc.


III. ASSIGNMENTS:-


*. Ultimate purpose of an assignment is to improve students learning.

*. Pre decided parameters like level of understanding , punctuality and neatness, completeness, creativity etc, may be given due weightage for assignment of an assignment.


IV. ASSESSMENT IN PROJECTS:-


*. A project is a task assigned to an individual or a group to develop basic understanding , practical skills , wholesome interest and desired altitudes among students.


V. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT:-


*. It is the assessment carried out at the end of a course of instruction.

*. It indicates and measures how much a student has learnt.

HOW WOULD THE CCE HELP THE STUDENTS:

*. It would reduce anxiety and stress which often builds up if the students are assessed only once through one - shot examination at the end of year.

*. It will result in higher level of learning due to timely diagnosis of learning gaps and remedial intervention.


CCE - ASSESSMENT SCHEME FOR CLASS - IX ( 2009- 10)

( as per guidelines from CBSE, New Delhi)

GUIDELINES:

The entire course of study will be assessed in two terms i.e,First Term (April - September ) and Second Term ( October- March).


WEIGHTAGE OF MARKS FOR PROMOTION:

Formative Test : 40% ( I Term 20% + II Term 20% )

Summative Test : 60% ( I Term 20% + II Term 40% )

VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

The students studying in class IX should secure minimum 'D' grade or above 'D' grade in all the Scholastic subjects to qualify for Promotion - to Class X. (Refer the grade system given below)

CCE ASSESSMENT SCHEME FOR CLASS - X

( with effect from 2010- 2011)

VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

There is NO EXTERNAL EXAMINATION ( which is normally conducted by CBSE ) for class X from the acdemic year 2010-2011. The assessment will be made by the school , in terms of Formative and Summative assessment Test and the result for promotion will be declared by the school . The CBSE will issue a pass certificate for all the students, qualifying for promotion securing miminum 'D' grade (or ) above 'D' grade in the Scholastic subjects. ( English, Hindi, Maths, Science and Social Studies) The CCE- assessment Certificate will be issued by the school duly attested by the CBSE, after the completion of Class - X.

NOTE:
Those who have QUALIFIED FOR PROMOTION , ALONE WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION for class XI.

3. Students Should have a)Licence,B)Helmet while driving.

4.Arrive to School atmost by 8.20am

I. AVOID FAST FOOD:-


Instruct and guide your ward to avoid fast / junk foods, which are not good for health. Nutritious food items and fruits may be encouraged at home. Students should avoid bringing junk food items for lunch at the school.


II. SAY NO TO UNWANTED TV CHANNELS:-


Your wards may be advised and guided to select and watch useful and informative programs in TV channel during leisure time. Regular TV watching habit should be avoided. Regular Reading habits at home should be developed and practiced. Your ward's Prime Time for Reading should not be wasted on watching Channels.


III. VISIT OUR WEBSITE:-


Parents are requested to utilize the school website to avail more information about school programs, Activities, Achievements, Students month wise Attendance Report, Academic Performance Report, Nutrition Program Menu and so on. These information will enable you to understand the school activities and guide your ward for their betterment. The parents can mail their queries to the school by using the E-mail as and when any clarification or grievance arises, which will be answered immediately through website.


IV. ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL:-


Your ward's must be well trained to start early to school to report at 8.20A.M. as mentioned in school diary. Parents should inform their automan to drop the students before 8.20 A.M. at the school. Late coming should be totally avoided. The auto rickshaw should not carry more students than the permitted numbers to ensure safety of the children traveling by Auto.


V. The students using Two wheelers should have Driving License compulsorily. Otherwise, they are not allowed to drive such vehicles. Please inform them to use Helmet for their own safety and should not accommodate more than one pillion raiders, while driving their vehicles.


Your continuous guidance and support for your child in all the above said areas will help them to improve themselves.
